We offer a free consultation which generally takes about an hour. During this meeting Mary Sue will analyse your financial situation and together you and she will decide which Bankruptcy chapter is right for you. She even may advise that you should not file bankruptcy. It just depends on your financial situation, needs and the bankruptcy law.
Why we need your pay information:
In order to provide you with a meaningful consultation you will need to provide certain documentation the most important of which is proof of your gross income for the past six months. If you are married we will need to see the same for your spouse even if you plan to file an individual bankruptcy. Why do we need this? To see whether or not your income for the past six months is above or below the State of Maryland median income for a household of your size. Why does this matter? We will know whether or not you can qualify for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy or if you would be required to file a Chapter 13. Even if you want or need to file a Chapter 13, this information will provide us with the starting point to have a discussion of how much money you would have to pay to your unsecured creditors in a Chapter 13.
